Ideastream Public Media Classical Music Host Fellowship
Ideastream Public Media, a Cleveland-based multiple media organization and home to Ohio’s largest PBS, NPR, and classical radio stations, continues to expand its service to the 22 counties of Northeast Ohio. As part of this growth, we’re seeking a Classical Music Host Fellow to learn the fundamentals of producing and presenting high-quality, relevant, competitive audio content for distribution via radio and digital platforms. This role is designed to maximize the host experience through hands-on work, delivery of classical music and relationship-building with our staff. We eagerly welcome individuals with diverse lived experiences and perspectives to enrich our work and bring fresh ideas into our organization.
Over the course of this yearlong Fellowship, you will learn to perform voice-tracking for program announcing, image liners and promotions, operate equipment used for on-air broadcasts, and acquire audio editing skills. You will also have the opportunity to research and write scripts for radio commentary, handle the production of locally originated and network materials, contribute to the station’s social media and website content, and become familiar with FCC broadcast regulations.
Qualified candidates will have a demonstrated knowledge of classical music and Microsoft Office Suite. A Bachelor’s degree is preferred, though an equivalent experience in related fields and education will be considered. The Fellow will be paid $18.00 per hour for 17 hours per week. Strong verbal and written communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills are also preferred. If you’re someone who loves classical music, is eager to learn, and motivated by curiosity apply today.
