**Review of applications begins December 16, 2024**
The Conservatory of Music at Oberlin College invites applications for a full-time tenure-track faculty position in Voice, beginning with the 2025-26 academic year. All voice types considered; mezzo-soprano preferred.
The Vocal Studies Division, which includes members of the Voice and Opera departments, Conducting and Ensembles Division, and Keyboard Studies Division, specializes in training undergraduate singers through private voice instruction, opera productions, choral ensembles, and vocal coaching. Previous graduates enjoy distinguished careers, winning major competitions and appearing regularly in the world’s most important venues. Interested students also have the opportunity to engage in Oberlin’s legacy of excellence in music education and social justice by taking classes in the Division of Pedagogy, Advocacy, and Community Engagement (PACE).
Responsibilities:
- Provide individual instruction for voice majors and teach related courses as necessary.
- Teach Opera Workshop, or Vocal Pedagogy, as needed.
- Capacity to recruit, teach and mentor a diverse student body of the highest quality.
- Participate in departmental auditions, advising examinations and meetings as scheduled.
Required Qualifications:
- Demonstrated ability and accomplishment as a dynamic studio teacher of all voice types.
- Significant professional, ongoing performance experience.
- Appropriate academic credentials and/or professional experience.
- Understanding of and commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging and the mission of Oberlin College.
Desired Qualifications:
- The successful candidate will be a positive, collaborative colleague, and have a record of developing, training, and nurturing undergraduate voices, as well as success in recruiting prospective students.
