Job Title: Little Wing/Rookies Instructor Instructor
Reports to: General Manager/Music Director
We teach five core areas at School of Rock - keys, vocals, guitar, bass and drums. Our most valued instructors are skilled on multiple instruments, song arrangement, audio production, mixing, and have a large knowledge of music and music history.
Instruction:
- Introduce students to fundamentals of music: pitch, rhythm, song structure.
- Active listening to songs to identify parts.
- Sing and play rhythm instruments with enthusiasm along with students.
- Choose appropriate activities from our curriculum to match student interest.
- Give older (5-8) students opportunities to play keys, guitar, bass, drums & sing independently.
Customer Connection:
- Communicate regularly with parents on progress of students in notes
- Interact with parents and students regularly by being visible and accessible in the school
- Pitch in during canceled lessons in the overall execution of the program
- Assist in rehearsals and basic maintenance in school
- Adheres to the SOR Code of Conduct, safety policies, including the Monitoring and Supervision policy.
General Skill Requirements:
- Experience teaching and/or performing music professionally
- Excellent ability to deal well with a wide range of customers, students and families
- Strong organizational skills
- Very strong customer relations skills
- Resourceful and good problem-solver
- Works well under pressure
- Ideal candidate is a working musician who also has some to lots of formal music school training
- Enthusiastic, flexible, patient, and positive demeanor
- Good judgment a must
- Passion for teaching and sharing a love of music with students and families
