Information:
The Tusculum Cumberland Presbyterian Church is a medium size church within the Cumberland Presbyterian Denomination. The choir currently has around 20 vocal participants with varying musical backgrounds. Most, to varying degrees, read music. There are seven solid soloists including a trio, quartet, and bluegrass trio. There are, in addition to the choir, seven musicians, several with multiple instrument abilities. All music will be performed with live instruments. No pre-recorded tracks.
The church is comprised of several faith backgrounds and music tastes. The program has been built around the gifts and skill sets sent to the church by God. The program is not designed around the Minister of Music’s specific taste or the design of church leadership. With this vision and mission, this group has excelled and grown spiritually and musically. The choir has invited to our church, and performed with, Christ Church choir, Lake Providence Missionary Baptist, Bethel University Renaissance choir, David L. Cook, and several other artists.
The choir has been led by Bob Shupe, graduate of Belmont University, for forty years until his retirement July 1, 2017. Sue Ayers was church and choir accompanist during a great deal of this time. Bob was followed by Bryan Harden until present. Bryan possesses the unique talent of directing and accompanying concurrently. Bryan has brought a wide range of talent and experience to the program including music from various churches and a professional music career with Disney and various studio assignments. Bryan is retiring to spend more time with his grown children who live out of state.
Everyone’s desire is to take the program to the next level and is looking for the individual God has already chosen.
