Music Instructor (Piano) — Inspire Students & Build Leaders!
Piedmont School of Music & Dance (PSMD) is expanding! We are seeking a dedicated, positive, and experienced Piano Instructor to teach private lessons to students of all ages while supporting our mission of leadership and character development.

About the Role
As a PSMD Piano Instructor, you’ll provide engaging one-on-one lessons that build strong technique, musicianship, and creativity. You will also incorporate leadership principles into your teaching, helping students develop responsibility, confidence, and discipline.
What You’ll Do
Private Piano Instruction
- Teach weekly one-on-one piano lessons
- Customize instruction based on each student’s level, goals, and learning style
- Teach technique, repertoire, musicianship, sight-reading, and theory
- Support students across classical, contemporary, and modern styles
Leadership & Character Development
- Incorporate leadership concepts into regular lessons
- Encourage responsibility, goal-setting, and personal growth
- Create a positive environment that promotes confidence and discipline
Planning & Instruction
- Build structured, engaging lesson plans
- Use creative, student-centered teaching methods
- Prepare students for recitals, evaluations, and performances
Communication
- Communicate consistently with families using Opus (our digital lesson platform)
- Provide updates about schedules, progress, expectations, closures, and reminders
- Respond professionally to questions, absences, and makeup availability
Classroom Management
- Maintain a focused, encouraging learning environment
- Address behavior or motivation concerns calmly and effectively
What You Must Have
- Proven experience teaching private piano lessons
- Strong understanding of various musical styles and techniques
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to design meaningful, effective lesson plans
- A passion for mentorship, leadership, and character development
A degree is not required — we value excellent musicianship, reliability, and a heart for teaching.

Job Types: Part-time, Contract
Pay: From $30.00 per hour
