SUMMARY OF JOB:
Responsible for providing music therapy under the direction of the Director according to the residents’ unique care plan, including hospice and palliative care. The Music Therapist will plan, organize, and direct music therapy activities as part of psycho-social and physical treatment of residents and their families to influence behavioral and psychological changes.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Direct and assist residents through music therapy interventions to assist with alleviating symptoms of anxiety, depression, isolation, agitation, restlessness, sleeplessness, pain, and tension.

Develops treatment plan, using individualized needs assessment, depending on goal of therapy.

Studies and analyzes residents' reactions to various experiences and adjusts care plan as needed.

Provides ongoing education to the clinical team for treatment.

Maintains necessary records; clinical notes, charting, coordination notes, which will be incorporated into the resident’s clinical record within 24 hours of session and modified as needed.

Participates in team meetings as requested.

Completes annual compliance and HIPAA training and exhibits behavior as set forth by the Code of Compliance in the performance of their duties.

Adheres to the Organizations Policies and Procedures regarding the Compliance Program of the organization and is timely in reporting any possible concerns.

Follows all local, state and federal regulations as they pertain to their position.

Adheres to the Organization’s Policies and Procedures covering Privacy and Security in Compliance with HIPAA regulations.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Music Therapy from an accredited music therapy program
-
Licensure/Certification: Current MT – BC certification from Certification Board for Music Therapists
EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
-
One-year experiences in Music Therapy field with adult/geriatric population preferred.
