Position Overview
The Church Guitarist is responsible for providing musical support during the church’s blended worship service at Broadview Missionary Baptist Church by playing guitar, accompanying the choir, and performing additional music as needed. This includes regular Sunday services as well as special church events such as Easter, Christmas concerts, and other significant services.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Rehearsals: Attend and play for all choir and worship team rehearsals.
- Attend Sound Check for services
- Service Performance: Prepare and perform a variety of music styles including hymns, contemporary worship songs, traditional music, and choir accompaniment during Sunday services.
- Special Music: Play special music pieces for offertory, sermonic selections, and other service elements as needed.
- Coordination: Work with Worship and Arts Director to coordinate instrumental selections for special music.
- Special Events: Accompany music for special church events such as church outings, Easter and Christmas concerts, and other scheduled services.
Supervision and Compensation:
- Reporting: The Church Guitarist reports directly to the Worship and Arts Director.- **Compensation**: The Personnel Committee will recommend annual compensation, with payments made on a bi-weekly basis.
Qualifications:
1. A Christian who desires to use musical talents in ministry.
2. Technical proficiency in playing a wide range of music, including hymns, contemporary Christian music, traditional pieces, and solo performances.
3. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well as part of a team.
4. Supportive of church policies and staff, with strong communication skills to promote this support.
Additional requirements:
- Successful Completion of Background Check
- Demonstrated strong degree of personal integrity and preferably be a born again Christian and a member
