Columbus International Children’s Choir is an award-winning ensemble dedicated to nurturing a love of music and vocal excellence in young singers. We provide a positive and supportive environment where children can develop their musical skills, grow in confidence, and form lifelong friendships. We rehearse on Saturdays from August through May at 1220 Bethel Road, Columbus, OH 43220, USA (Bethel International United Methodist Church).
Job Description
We seek a passionate Choir Conductor to lead our two youngest ensembles: Creative Notes (ages 5–7) and Rainbow of Voices (ages 7–10). In this role, you will:
- Lead weekly rehearsals and conduct performances
- Select appropriate repertoire and plan engaging musical activities
- Provide clear musical direction and instruction to the children
- Collaborate with other staff to maintain a supportive learning atmosphere
This is a part-time, on-site contractor position. Rehearsals occur on Saturdays during our choir season (August–May).
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Music Education or a related field
- Proven experience conducting choirs and/or ensembles, preferably with young children
- Strong communication skills and a nurturing teaching style
- Ability to provide structure and maintain a positive, engaging rehearsal environment
- Piano skills are a plus but not required
