Belmont University is seeking a dynamic and esthetically
experienced Assistant Director of Intercultural Development and International
Support Service, which will play a pivotal role in fostering a welcoming and
supportive environment for international students and scholars at Belmont
University. This role provides strategic leadership, innovation, operational
oversight and advocacy for international students and scholars, enhancing the
international student experience, ensuring institutional compliance with
federal immigration regulations and requirements. The Assistant Director also
leads intercultural programming to foster cultural awareness and development
across the student body.
The Assistant Director serves as a Primary Designated School
Official (PDSO) and/or Responsible Officer (RO), offering expert guidance on
visa regulations, SEVIS reporting, and other compliance matters. They support
students navigating the often-challenging landscape of immigration policies,
helping them maintain legal status while pursuing their academic and personal
goals. This includes one-on-one sessions, workshops, and proactive
communication about regulatory changes.
Beyond compliance, the Assistant Director leads
intercultural programming that promotes cross-cultural understanding and global
engagement across the campus community. By developing initiatives that
celebrate diversity and foster inclusion, this role contributes to the holistic
development and flourishing of all students, while advocating for the unique
needs of international populations.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and oversight for services supporting international students and scholars.
- Interpret and ensure compliance with complex immigration regulations.
- Develop and implement intercultural programs for the broader student population.
- Advocate for international students and scholars within the university community.
- Supervise student workers, including Global Ambassadors and Orientation staff.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to enhance international support services.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:

Required: 3-5 years in international student support
services, Study Abroad, and/or Global Education. Experience in providing
academic F-1 and J-1 immigration advising to college or university students.
Experience working in a college or university setting, providing advising,
orientation and programming for international students.
Preferred: 6+ years of experience in international student
support services and/or global education. International and global experience
that may include studying, living or working abroad, or interacting with
international students.
Skills & Abilities:- Expert
knowledge and understanding of immigration laws and international student
regulations - Strong
intercultural communication and program management skills - Experience
developing and implementing student programs that promote engagement and
success. - Ability
to collaborate with various campus offices, faculty, and external partners
to support student needs. - Proficiency

Required EducationRequired: Bachelor's degree in International Education, Law, Counseling, Social Work, Student Affairs, or related field.
Preferred: Master's degree in international education, Student Affairs, or related field, additional certifications in immigration advising or intercultural training recommended.
Required ExperienceRequired: 3-5 years in international student support services, Study Abroad, and/or Global Education. Experience working in a college or university setting, providing advising, orientation and programming for international students.
