Primary Duties and
Responsibilities: This position provides guidance and programming implementation for career development initiatives within the Mike Curb College of Entertainment and Music Business and the College of Music and Performing Arts.
- Provides career coaching and advising to assist students and alumni in developing and implementing career decisions and plans. Utilizes online career management tools and resources. Provides resume writing, interviewing and job search assistance. Reviews and critiques students and graduates' resumes and cover letters.
- Contributes to the career development programming strategy for students pursuing an Entertainment focused degree. In partnership with Associate Director, evaluates career development resources, workshops, classroom presentations, recruiting events and other programming, to ensure that all offerings remain effective, scalable and relevant. Provides recommendations for changes. Works to embed occupational well-being and career readiness across the curriculum to reach all Curb and CMPA students.
- Attends faculty meetings and represents Belmont in university wide initiatives representing the career development team.
- Participates in strategic planning and opportunities for professional development and contributes input to develop and achieve strategic objectives.
- Actively conducts employer outreach on a weekly basis. Builds and maintains a network of entertainment industry professionals. Conducts research and establishes employer relationships in target markets. Represents Belmont University in external affairs and events involving entertainment and music business employers.
- Assists with social media strategy, messaging and the creation of marketing tools for all entertainment-focused Career & Professional Development events.
- Facilitates connections between students, alumni and employers. Collaborates with academic administrators, faculty, and other relevant university colleagues to enhance student success.
- Assists with collection of University career outcome data including, but not limited to, the annual First Destination Report.
- Assists with Towering Traditions, Curb College, CMPA and Career & Professional Development events as needed.

- Knowledgeable about careers in the entertainment industry, career development theories, career decision making, job search strategies, interview and resume writing skills.

- Ability to advise and coach students and alumni with their career development goals, job search, and strategies for success.
- Ability to research, develop and curate entertainment industry programming, events and workshops on career exploration and planning, and occupational well-being.
- Ability to communicate to internal and external customers utilizing effective communication skills including public speaking and excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to cultivate and maintain professional relationships with members of the entertainment industry on behalf of Belmont and the community at large.
- Ability to interpret policies and apply knowledge of precedents to fit unique situations.
- Ability to create graphics and digital content, letters, reports, presentations, and graphs utilizing various software programs and databases.
- Ability to market services to internal and external customers.
- Ability to view and update student and alumni records in the Career Services Handshake database and view student and alumni records in Banner.
Required EducationBachelor's degree required. Master's degree preferred.
Required ExperienceMinimum of 3 years professional experience in the entertainment industry, higher education, or as a Human Resources professional. Professional association involvement within the entertainment industry preferred.
The selected candidate will be required to complete a background check satisfactory to the University.
