Lesson With You (“LWY”) is the leading US provider of live, online private music lessons. With over 55 teachers across more than 20 instruments and voice, we focus on high quality instruction and an excellent student experience.
Ideal Candidate
We’re looking for a trumpet or trombone instructor who is:
- Consistently available at least ten total hours during our peak hours with peak hours defined as Monday through Thursday from 4-10pm Eastern
- Professional, friendly, and reliable with strong communication skills
Duties
Trumpet and trombone instructors teach both trial lessons and recurring weekly lessons until their schedule is fully committed with recurring students. LWY offers 30, 45, and 60 minute lessons to students ranging from young beginners to adults.
Qualified instructors should feel comfortable teaching all levels and have a variety of industry standard teaching materials available.
Administrative duties are minimal. LWY handles trial scheduling and billing. Instructors only need to submit weekly lesson summaries for payroll verification and coordinate with their students for sporadic rescheduling requests.
Scheduling
LWY is experiencing a high volume of new lesson inquiries. Each new student receives a complimentary 30 minute trial lesson, and most continue with weekly lessons.
Instructors with consistent availability during peak hours (Monday through Thursday 4-10 pm Eastern) across US time zones can expect to fill their schedules quickly. Instructors with other availability are welcome to apply, but interview and hiring will prioritize instructors with peak availability.
LWY supports instructors balancing graduate studies or additional part time work, but weekly consistency is essential so students can maintain a stable lesson time.
Requirements
- Must have at least a bachelor’s degree in trumpet or trombone performance or music education with a trumpet or trombone focus.
- Candidates must have a high-quality microphone, webcam, and either a laptop or tablet for teaching. Cell phones may not be used as the primary device. These items will be verified during the interview process.
- Candidates should be prepared to provide a professional video recording that showcases their music performance level.
- Candidates must be fluent in English.
- Candidates should be authorized to work in the US.
This is a contract position for which US work authorization is required. We are happy to assist with CPT/OPT applications, but cannot sponsor visas.
Compensation
Rates are $26.5 for a bachelor’s degree, $27.5 for a master’s degree, and $28.5 for a doctoral degree.
