Position Overview
SOL-LA Music Academy is seeking a warm, engaging, and highly skilled Early Childhood Music Teacher to lead our early childhood program for children ages 0–4 beginning in Fall 2026.
This role includes teaching our foundational classes on Saturday mornings—Discover Music, Explore Music, and Make Music—which introduce young children and their caregivers to music through singing, movement, rhythm, and play-based learning.
The ideal candidate is a specialist in early childhood music education who can create joyful, developmentally appropriate experiences while fostering a strong musical foundation. This position also offers opportunities to teach additional classes (private lessons, group classes, or enrichment programs) depending on the candidate’s background. There is also an opportunity to contribute to curriculum design and help shape the long-term vision of SOL-LA’s early childhood program.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach early childhood classes (ages 0–4) using a play-based, developmentally appropriate approach
- Lead and develop curriculum for:
- Discover Music! (0–12 months)
- Explore Music! (1–2.5 years)
- Make Music! (2.5–4 years)
- Learn and refine SOL-LA’s existing early childhood curriculum
- Engage both children and caregivers in a welcoming, interactive classroom environment
- Incorporate singing, movement, rhythm, and creative exploration into lessons
- Foster a love for music across diverse styles and cultural traditions
- Contribute to the growth and development of SOL-LA’s early childhood program
- Potential to teach additional private lessons, group classes, or school-based programs
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Music, Music Education, Early Childhood Education, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Specialized experience teaching early childhood music (ages 0–5)
- Strong musicianship, including confident singing and rhythmic skills
- Ability to create engaging, age-appropriate, and structured lesson plans
- Warm, energetic, and nurturing teaching presence
- Excellent communication skills, especially with families and caregivers
- Ability to play multiple instruments (guitar and/or piano strongly preferred) across a range of musical styles
Preferred:
- Training or certification in methodologies such as Music Together, Orff, Kindermusik, Dalcroze, Kodály, or similar approaches
- Experience leading caregiver-and-child classes
- Experience in nonprofit, community music school, or enrichment program settings

Schedule & Compensation
- Must be available Saturdays from 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM, with potential additional weekday opportunities (afterschool or enrichment programs)
- Must be interested in building and growing an early childhood program over time
- Teaching may include morning, afternoon, and/or weekend classes, as well as after-school enrichment programs
- Opportunities to teach across multiple sites in the Los Angeles area
- Opportunities for professional growth and expanded leadership responsibilities (e.g., Chair of Early Childhood)
Compensation: $60–$90/hour, commensurate with experience
