Position Overview:
The Recording Engineer is the technical expert in the studio, responsible for capturing the highest-quality sound for every artist. This role works closely with the Music Producer and artists during recording sessions to bring creative visions to life. 1401 Soundwave Records LLC is an independent record label and distribution company dedicated to producing high-quality music across genres, with a strong focus on hip-hop and urban culture. We’re building a talented in-house studio team and are looking for a skilled and motivated Recording Engineer / Audio Engineer to join our growing operation in Los Angeles.
Recording Engineer Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate all studio recording equipment.
- Choose and place microphones appropriately for vocals and instruments.
- Set and manage audio levels to ensure clean, professional-quality recordings.
- Manage and maintain all recording and mixing hardware and software.
- Collaborate with the producer to achieve the desired sound for each track.
Music Producer Collaboration:
- Work directly with the producer, who supervises and directs the recording project.
- Understand and support the creative and aesthetic goals of each session.
- In hip-hop sessions, assist with capturing beats, samples, and songwriting guidance as needed.
- Support the producer and artist to refine vocal performances and song arrangements.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a recording or audio engineer (studio or field).
- Strong proficiency with DAWs such as Pro Tools, FL Studio, or Logic Pro.
- Knowledge of mixing, gain staging, and signal flow.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work flexible studio hours.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
Compensation:
- $25 per hour, paid per session or scheduled hours.
- In-person position based in Los Angeles, California.
- Contract or part-time opportunities available based on scheduling and project load.
