STAFF ACCOUNTANT
The Cleveland Music Settlement (dba The Music Settlement), established in 1912, has a mission to welcome all to our music and arts community to learn, create, inspire and heal. We are seeking a Staff Accountant to support the finance team through a variety of accounting functions. Full time, on site with potential for partial remote schedule following completion of orientation phase and meeting proficiency expectations
Essential Accounting Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assist in the annual budgeting process and monthly budget analysis
- General ledger data entry for daily, monthly and year-end transactions
- Handle cash receipts & application to customer accounts
- Manage access for the organization's information systems and hardware, including the set up of new accounts and coordinating support to technical issues
- Manage copier and scanning devices, including assigning user access and codes
- Manage the telephone system, including training and setup of voicemail for new employees, assigning extensions and email accounts
- Monitor customer accounts and identify delinquent balances
- Participate in month-end and annual accounting closing process
- Prepare monthly billing statements and receivable aging reports
- Prepare ad-hoc reports for expense analysis
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts with supporting documentation
- Record investment activities for the endowed fund accounts
- Support management and auditors during the annual audit process
- Track project costs & prepare related reports
- Order office supplies and coordinate service requests
- Other duties as assigned
Reports to:
Director of Finance
Educational Requirement:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent
Experience Requirements:
- 1-2 years accounting experience and demonstrated proficiency
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications & Windows 10 Systems
- Data entry accuracy
- Proficiency in receivables analysis, collection and billing processes
- Working knowledge of GAAP, experience at applying principles
- Adherence to strict confidentiality and ethical standards
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience and aptitude for professional and conversational phone and letter writing skills to align with organization's Mission and Values
- Work experience or familiarity with non-profit organizations and work settings
- Aptitude for quickly learning and using new/unfamiliar software applications

Pay: $55,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
